hi all

i am thinking about applying for DLA

but i have some questions

can i apply if i work part time ?

or do i have to have given up work before i apply - which looks as if it is going to happen very soon

is it means tested?

like most-- if not all of us with RA-- i have good days and bad-- how does that work with/against the application?

i would like to understand things better before i look into applying

any help would be appriciated--i know it is difficult to get the application right --from reading other peoples posts

Hi Caz,

No, DLA is not means tested and it makes no difference if you work full or part time, or not at all.
When filling in the form, think of each day as you are on your worse days.

it helps to include a diary of a few days , and remember that its what you NEED help with (ie you might be ABLE to open a tin, but it would be less painful/more helpful to have help to do it; you CAN make the beds BUT its very painful, and the blankets are really too heavy to manage on your own anymore.) A lot of the questions are repetitive ...as are the answers....but fill it all in for "you on a bad day" People in CAB are usually very good at these forms too, so ask for help if you're stuck....I had to ask my son to take dictation as it was too painful to fill the forms in!!!! Good luck, Lylie xx
Always be aware that what you do might hurt others........and if it could, do nothing without careful consideration of the consequences
